How do I advertise a property?
This short guide will take you through all the steps required to advertise a property on the public portal.
- Go to the Properties list
- Search for the property you wish to advertise to see if it already exists. If it does then click to edit the property and skip to step 6
- If your property does not already exist then we will need to create it. Click on the ADD NEW PROPERTY button
- Complete the fields on the form
- Permitted uses should be set to Social housing
- Advert type should be set to Social rent
- Click the SAVE PROPERTY button
At this point we have just ensured that we have a property record that our advert will be based on. For a property to be advertised if must have a Void record associated with it, and it is this that contains the details of who can bid on it and what order they will be shortlisted.
- Click on the Voids page of the Property
- Complete the following fields on the Void details page:
- Void start date - the date the property will become void
- Marketing information - detailed description of the property shown when an applicant clicks to view an advert in detail
- Marketing summary - short description used when displaying adverts in the list format
- Bid warning text - any important detail about the property that is displayed to the applicant in a warning dialog as they place a bid
- Click on the Eligibility page
- Set any eligibility rules that are required to restrict who should be allowed to bid on this property
- Be aware that:
- If you do not want to restrict on an option then leave the field blank. For example, you do not have to select every option in the Band field to allow all bands to be eligible. If you leave the field blank then it has the same effect
- The more rules you add the smaller the group of people that will be able to bid on it
- For most properties you will only need to set the bedroom size fields, and possibly the age rules. All other eligibility fields will normally be used very rarely
- Click on the Shortlist policy page
- The standard shortlist policy will be selected automatically and show the order bids will be placed in
- If the shortlist order needs to be changed for this property then it can be done by clicking the EDIT POLICY button
- Click on the Adverts/Shortlists page
- Click on the ADD NEW ADVERT button
- Set the date you wish the advert to start on the left-hand side
- Set the date you wish the advert to end on the right-hand side
- Click OK
- Click the SAVE VOID button
Your property will now be flagged as waiting approval, prior to being advertised on the public portal. Once a member of staff has approved it the property will automatically appear at the specified date. If the start date is set to the current date then it will appear as soon as it has been approved.
