Errors or strange behaviour in the back office

Errors or strange behaviour in the back office

If you experience errors or strange behaviour, e.g. blank pages of forms, when trying to access the back office then the most common cause of this is an out of date cache in your browser.
This can occur if a users browser has been left open when a new release of the system has been deployed. We would always recommend that users close their browsers down each night as new versions will then normally be picked up correctly when users login next.

This problem can normally be easily corrected by one of the following steps:
  1. Press Shift + Ctrl + R while viewing the page with the missing fields
  2. Fully close all your browsers windows and then re-open it
  3. Log out by clicking on your initials in the top right-hand corner and log back in again
  4. Log in using an InPrivate window
If none of the above options corrects the issue and you still experience issues then you may need to delete your cache. This can be done by following the steps below:

Clear Cache on Edge – Windows & Mac

To clear the Edge cache on your Windows or Mac computer, you have a couple of direct options.

Using Edge Settings

  1. Open Edge: Launch Microsoft Edge on your computer.
  2. Access Settings:
    • Click on the three horizontal dots in the upper-right corner of the browser window to open the menu.
    • Select “Settings.”
  3. Privacy, Search, and Services:
    • Click on “Privacy, search, and services.”
  4. Clear Browsing Data:
    • Under “Clear browsing data,” click on “Choose what to clear.”
  5. Select Time Range:
    • Choose the time range for which you want to clear the cache. For a complete clear-out, select “All time.”
  6. Select Data to Clear:
    • Check the box next to “Cached images and files.” You can also select other types of data you want to clear, such as browsing history or cookies.
  7. Clear Data:
    • Click on “Clear now” to finish.

Deleting Cache on Edge for One Site

If you don’t want to clear all your Edge cache, you can target specific site cache through the developer tools. Here’s how:

Using Edge’s Developer Tools (for Specific Cache)

  1. Open Edge: Launch Microsoft Edge on your computer.
  2. Go to website you wish to clear cache for
  3. Open Developer Tools:
    • Right-click on the page and select “Inspect” or press F12.
  4. Navigate to the Network Tab:
    • In the Developer Tools pane, click on the “Network” tab.
  5. Clear Cache for the Site:
    • With the network tool open, check the box “Disable cache” while dev tools are open, which forces the browser to ignore cached data. Refresh the page to clear cache specifically for that site.
